Shine on you CRAZY ANGRY GERMAN DIAMONDS!!!

Watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy.  The original sweedish version is on hulu plus. SWWEEEEEDDDISSSHHHH.

Takes about six hours. I doubt I'll watch the american version. I've had plenty enough thank you.

So how was it you ask? Well, I watched all six hours and didn't pause in the middle to go to wikipedia.  THAT SAYS A LOT PEOPLE. I'm all about the spoilers. I'm all about reading instead of watching.

I have five kids and no attention span. Reading through the movie takes much less time than watching. And less effort too. Yet, The Girl trilogy managed to catch me.

It is worth the effort. However, there is a LOT of violence against the woman up there. Who is by no means is a girl. Late 20's. It's hard watching sometimes. I fast forwarded through chunks. I found the lesbian sex scene dumb by the way. Not honest or earnest. The naughty scenes in the first film are earnest. No naughty scenes in the third. Just an FYI there for ya.

Some parents gently rock their babies to sleep. Our babies sit on Mr. Hall's lap as he rocks out to Rammstein. This music is German, industrial and loud. They have a axe to grind with America and capitalism. They also like fire and dressing in costumes. Du Hast, Mein Land and Kiene Lust are interesting videos. Not exactly safe for work NOR safe for kids. They have other videos I can't mention because they aren't safe for me!

I find it slightly ironic. Go ahead and get a mohawk. Get down with your facial piercings and scowly badself. PUNK NOT DEAD and all. But, it's just another system of beliefs  that's sold to you. Being a rebel is just another word for conforming elsewhere. So go ahead you crazy Rammsteins, shine on you ANGRY GERMAN DIAMONDS!!

Babies don't know this though. They just like being on Daddy's lap all bouncey bounce! With loud German industrial music ripping through the speakers. They bounce, they tire, they lay their head down and pass the heck out. Best system ever.

There is a puddle of drool under his cheek.

AND NOW . . .

my thoughts on The Walking Dead

I think I've broken up with The Walking Dead. I don't read spoilers or chase new episodes. I used to love it now.... Nothing. I think it was the pigs. That episode with the pigs just friggin killed me.

And then the last one. With the toddler size baby who almost was killed by the kid. That is just not acceptable. Even in jest. I realize it's a dark, cruel world but enough. I think I've had enough.

All that surviving is wearing me down.

Time to find a new show. Something that doesn't have the color pallette of BLACK/GRAY/EAT 112 OZ OF PUDDING/GERMAN ANGRY!!!!

DU HAST!!!

The Elixir of love and stories

That up there is Mr. Hall fixing the brakes on his truck.

He was annoyed at me, taking his photo.

I don't think husbands, wives, children and assorted family/friends of bloggers get how awesome these kinds of 'fixed the breaks' moments are. We LOVE documenting our lives. I post something on facebook twice daily. A cute photo of kids or a quick story about something. Like how our daughter recently learned how to make armpit farts.

It's all golden my good people.

It's like an elixir right now, as a I fight through round 17 of first trimester nausea and exhaustion. Reading and telling stories helps all of this.

So,

Thanks for writing,

and

Thanks for reading :)

Why I love Mr. Hall, right here

I yelled downstairs to Mr. Hall, "CAN YOU GOOGLE ROY G BIV? I NEED TO KNOW THE COLORS!!" To which he replied, "WHY?" and then questioned the logic of my project that required rainbow colors. Because Mr. Hall always tries to use logic with me. Especially when I am knee deep in a project, having already decided exactally how things should go.

Like the 'lazy man's air conditioner'. Which I spoken of before. Basically, you take an ordinary fan, strap an ice pack to the front and WHALLA! Poor man's air conditioner! Except Mr. Hall pointed out that the ice pack would block air and thus make the room warmer. DANG LOGIC! I coulda made a million dollars!!

Last week, I was feeling guilty for working out in the morning and missing the kids as they went off to school. "I can't help you out in the mornings!", I said. "It doesn't matter," he explained, "They just need to get up and out. You get in the way anyway." Which is so nice for him to say. :)

Then, I asked him about our recent ultrasound of our little bean. I asked him what he thought of the appointment. Was he all shook up like me? All verklempt?

"No," he said. "The doctor said I had super sperm and BA BAM! Looked how I just knocked you right up!! He said we need to put a sign by our pool for the neighboor ladies to WATCH OUT! Fertile man swims here!"

My jaw dropped. The doctor said no such thing! But Mr. Hall had a point. We can get all excited about this. Happy and joyful even!

Then. He said,

"I should put an ad on craigslist. If people are having trouble getting pregnant, I can charge a fee for my services!"

hee hee heee

This is why I'm married, right here

was morning sickness sick on monday morning. took off of work in the am, decided to go in on the pm.

basically spent the morning on the couch, with mah bucket.

Around 11.00 Mr. Hall finishes a foot rub and says, all serious and annoyed, "OK . . you need to get ready and leave. For work. I can't get anything done with you here. It's frustrating!"

And it's true.

He spent the morning fetching me things, adjusting my pillows, loving me. And that man has projects. Ripping up bushes and mowing lawn projects. And nothing gets done when I'm home and sicky.

Cause he's tending to me.

AND THAT IS WHY I MARRIED MR. HALL

right there!

This is why I married Mr. Hall, right here

Last night I had my women's bible study group come over. With women comes children. Children who need watching so we can focus on studying the word. Mr. Hall volunteered to hold all the kids and keep them occupied down stairs. Volunteered without me asking really.

A few of the women were suprised by this. "Oh", they said, "my husband would never volunteer for that!" They said this kind of whisper like and round eyed.

Which got me thinking about my level of neediness and all that Mr. Hall does for me.

And there is a lack of what I do for him. Which I'm working on. He asks for a back massage most nights and this is the only thing he ever asks of me and dang if I don't try. But I am much better at being his sustainer.

Which is what Eve was. Eve is often listed as the 'helper' of Adam but really, she is the sustainer.

With this in mind I am mindful to sustain Mr. Hall properly. My attitude, the words I say, my facial expressions, the feelings I exude, I directly affect the Mr. Hall. I take care to fuel him properly. And I'm getting better at it.

I was mulling this over last night and I said to him, "How do you do this, be a husband to such a needy wife?"

"Well, it's not like you became needy overnight. You were a pretty needy girlfriend too. I knew what I was getting in to. It's not a suprise or anything." Then he snuggled close and said, "I love you".

AND THAT'S WHY I MARRIED MR. HALL.

RIGHT THERE!!

This is why I love Mr. Hall, right here

Mr. Hall receives many mini phone calls from me throughout the day. These phone conversations are about a minute in length. I call to share some random thoughts, to tell him how my day is going or giggle over what happened last night. Sometimes I call him and say nothing but I love you. We average 4-7 phone calls during the day. We have done this since we started dating.

Then, sometimes, my life gets busy and I can't call so much. Sometimes I don't get to call all day. Then, when I come home at night, he says, "I was worried, you didn't call today."

AND THAT'S why I love Mr. Hall, right there.

This is why I married Mr. Hall, right here:

This morning he packed me a bag of anti-morning sickness treats. And when he made the PB&J sammiches, he spread the jelly all the way out to the edges.

And as I was leaving he said, "Hey, why don't you take the truck and I'll get your car washed and oil changed today."

Being married makes everything so very awesome. Especially since I'm married to Mr. Hall.

This is why I love Mr. Hall, right here

Falling asleep is easy for Mr. Hall. Especially after. It's practically involuntary anyway. But especially after. Sometimes though . . . I'm not done . . . talking.

Or not done . . . being with him.

He can sense this and I watch as he struggles to stay awake. I watch as he tries to concentrate on what I am saying. Then I see him pass out cold. Which he can do very easily like I said. Mr. Hall can fall asleep standing against a wall.

Except, like I said, I'm not done. And he's snoring. And now I'm all awake because I've wanted to talk to him all day and bedtime is the first time we've had to talk to each other all day. Without work, without, ehem, the needs getting in the way, without kids and now he's snoring!

So I lay next to him and start snoring along. I get really, really loud. Then I start twitching. Then I start flopping around like a fish out of her fish bowl. FLIP FLOP!!!

FLIP FLOP!!

And he rouses just enough to register the silly seizure. And he tries to wake up all the way because he knows I'm needy for him. But sleep has too tight of a grip. But he smiles and is never crabby. He just reaches over and snuggles. And my heart is all happy cause even though he's all sleepsville, I do love him so. ;)

This is why Mr. Hall loves me

As mentioned before, and I will say it again, Mr. Hall is an engineer.

The brain of Mr. Hall is complicated and takes a long time. Engineers see the unseen and logical connections between everything. Especially if it's mechanical. Thus, when buying a mechanical device, like an electric tooth brush or flat screen TV, he ponders endlessly.

And researches and researches. And compares and learns all he can. Plus he is thrifty to the point of maniacal. He finds it a moral and righteous victory when he buys quality on the cheap. All of which takes time and considerable mental effort on his part.

For me, I've learned to just sit back and chill. I cannot rush nor direct this process. Best just to enjoy the view. (click here for photos of such an event).

This week though, he fought his engineer nature. He went out to just two stores and bought a tv. Then he came home and said, "You have no idea how hard it was babe. I just went out and bought a TV." He looked tired and in pain. I gave him a hug and said, "Oh honey, I wish I could have been there, helping you." Then I massaged his temples because that's where he carries his stress.

Here is Mr. Hall in engineer mode. Examining and putting together vast continents built of logic and electrical supplies.

Then, last night, after five months of research and visits to endless stores and websites, he bought a fancy electric tooth brush. While I was giving it a whirl, he explained in great detail, the inner workings and seven million applicator heads. I listened earnestly. When he explains the secret life of machines, his eyes light up. And I get all sparkly.

Then he said, "I got it in the clearance bin, 50 % off!" He did a fist pump in the air.

And that's when I jumped up and down, emitting a wee squeal. So happy for him. Then we did the butt bump. Which I enjoy the most.

HAVE AN AWESOME WEEKEND EVERYONE!!

Now get out there and shake your rump!

I recommend the bootie shake

If you want to marry me, here's what you'll have to do:
You must learn how to make a perfect chicken dumpling stew.
And you must sew my holey socks.
And soothe my troubled mind.
And develop the knack for scratching my back.
And keep my shoes spotlessly shined.
And while I rest you must rake up the leaves.
And when it is hailing and snowing
You must shovel the walks & and be still when I talk.
And-Hey-Where are you going?

"My Rules"
by Shel Silverstein

Some eight years ago, I went to a graduation party with Mr. Hall. I had graduated with my bachelor's degree in nursing. Mr. Hall had moved up to my tiny college town, all to support my dreams. All to support me.

He had moved in about halfway through my four year program. The day before I graduated, he asked me to marry him.

The graduation party was small but mighty. There was a cluster of us nursing students, all spent. Nursing school was, by far, the hardest thing I have every been through, in my entire life. It broke a few of us. I had at least one meltdown per semester. It was usually in the form of an ugly snot bubble cry, always in front of professor. Hyperventilating, snot bubble cry. Like clock work, at the end of each semester.

I didn't realize it at the time, but Mr. Hall was there for me in so many ways. He payed for the apartment, he cooked, helped fix my car and cleaned the cat box. He volunteered to be my first patient. I practiced taking his blood pressure, listening to his lungs, checking his reflexes, and palpating his abdomen. He helped me choose an excellent stethoscope.

And that night, when we were done with school, we went to the graduation party. I was so happy. We were engaged for one day. I found myself looking at the ring every 20 minutes. It was almost involuntary. One time, I walked into a wall while looking at my ring. Plain just smacked right into a wall. All because I was gazing at my left hand.

I remember the music pumping. Us laughing. And then he stood up and started to dance. And I followed. We did the bootie shake. Bumping butts and being silly. I was laughing so hard. I remember thinking, I can't believe this is going to be my husband!

I still can't believe my luck. :)

This is why I am married, right here

I was on the phone with Mr. Hall, telling him all about my recent yoga class.

A group of women from the class, plus the instructor, were talking about their recent trip to Costa Rica. It was a Yoga Retreat. I've heard about these events before, usually a group of Yogi (person(s) who practices yoga) go to some exotic locale, like Costa Rica. They all stay a resort, have specialized yoga instruction for a week, eat all native and delicious foods. Generally, on these retreats, Yogis have themselves a fabulous time doing what we love and practicing yoga.

One of the women talked about what it felt like to be responsible only to herself. She has four kids. I could sympathize with her. To say the least.

It didn't sound very expensive either.

These resorts are not four star type resorts. They are yoga studios with rooms to bunk and a kitchen. Not really posh, just streamlined. And really, the simplicity of the studios are meant to contrast with the Costa Rican surroundings. To contrast with the work being done by the Yogis. The fancy stuff goes on on the inside. It all sounded very surreal and dreamlike, listening to them.

"You should go to one of those babe." Says Mr. Hall.

"Oh, I don't know, I mean, if I was going to go to Costa Rica I would want you and the kids to come. Well, maybe leave the kids behind, but I mean, I would want you there." Says I.

"yeah, but really, if I was there, we would be focused on each other. And Yoga is your time, to focus on yourself. I bet you could get a lot of done there. It would be cool I think. And don't worry about me and the kids, you know we'll be just fine. Is there a trip coming up?" Says He.
